While a lot of people have dreams, only a small minority have clear goals that they want to achieve in their life. Do you float by day-to-day hoping that at some point in time your day dreams about financial, educational, physical or spiritual success will come all of a sudden come to fruition? Or do you have a plan, or at least an idea of what you want and how you want to fulfill that desire?

Well, I am in the same boat as you. I have a lot of dreams and very few goals, but I think that it’s time to change that. We have one life to make a difference, one life to make an impact, and one life to be the individuals that God created us to be. Therefore, I am asking those who read this blog, to list out five goals in the comment section of this post that they would like to be fulfilled within the next six months, and we will try and achieve our goals together. There are a lot of people out there are are in the same boat as you, or have been in the same situation and know how to get out of it, and by leveraging off of the experience of others we are more likely to be successful in moving out of our rut. I will post a similar article monthly where we can update the status of our goals and get tips and ideas from other blog readers.
The things that you want to achieve can be as noble or ignoble as you wish (I’d hope that they are not immoral though). If you really don’t desire to travel to Africa to feed the poor then don’t make it a goal. But I do suggest that somewhere in your list you put an item that entails helping someone other than yourself or something spiritually edifying. Here are my five goals that I want to reach in the next six months:
- Start a local home and corporate information technology and security consulting business. (Currently in the works)
- Start an online business. (Currently in the works)
- Have 500 subscribers to my blog.
- Speak at one or more conferences either at work, or at a hosted by a Catholic organization.
- Go to Mass daily.
What are your goals? Let’s work together to try and bring them to fruition. We can even have a meet up of some sort if enough people participate! Now, get to work and start solidifying your goals!
Thanks to Modite for this suggestion.
