The Getting Things Done™ framework is great and has revolutionized the way many people handle tasks and projects. But, wouldn’t it be nice to collaborate with others who also use GTD in a way that is seemless and easily accessible? Producteev™ allows you to do just that – and more!

Producteev™ utlizes GTD methodologies, but also adds in collaboration and project management capabilities that allow users to share information, ideas, and tasks. Producteev™ is free to use for up to two people, free for up to 40 students, and relatively inexpensive for all others.
A Deluge of Information Sharing
There are numerous things that users can do with Producteev™ that enhance information sharing and metrics. Users are able to attach documents to tasks and projects, give status updates on where they are or what they are doing, create reports on active or closed tasks within a project, view live feeds of employee or co-worker actions, and leverage off the power of other social networking sites like Twitter.
The Power of Synergistic Productivity
Here is what the developers of the site say about their product:
Producteev is a web-based task management application that helps people — whether they are located in the same office or in multiple time zones — work together more effectively and efficiently.
You can connect with your colleagues, track the progress of projects in real time, manage your to-do lists, manage workflow, assign tasks, collaborate, share files, centralize multiple project information into one customizable, personal, Dashboard and put the web’s best social networking applications to work for you.
My Experience with Producteev™
I took Producteev™ on a test drive by myself, and I think that it is an exceptionally well done application. However, in order to take full advantage of its capabilities, you need to use it with a group (that’s not surprising since that is the whole premise behind the app). I really don’t recommend that it be used individually, since it can be a little too much, and could be potentially overwhelming. That being said, overall Producteev™ is fantastic, and may eventually take the place of well-established collaborative task managers such as Remember the Milk™.
With its ability to not only manage tasks, but leverage off of already established social networks, Producteev™ is a great way to organize group projects. So much so that I am considering using it to boost the productivity of my start up.

August 12, 2009 at 3:01 pmIt really is a great tool. I've tried used Remember the Milk in a collaborative way, and it failed. Particularly because it just wasn't as intuitive and built for collaboration like Producteev is. You can't beat the social networking aspect of it either, it makes it so easy to stay in communication.
