Devin Rose Has Hacked the System

Greetings Productive Catholic readers! I am thrilled to announce that Devin Rose has joined with me on Productive Catholic. Devin and I have been friends for several years and collaborated on various evangelistic endeavors together. We have some exciting things planned here, but for now I’ll let Devin introduce himself.

Thanks Dean! I’m looking forward to working with Dean to create helpful content for Catholics, especially for Catholic husbands and fathers trying to make a living for their families.

By way of introduction, I’m a 30-something Catholic convert from atheism by way of Evangelical Protestantism. I’m married with two young children and am a software developer.

2Christmas2014I’ve long desired to find ways of providing for my family beyond my regular job, not primarily for extra income but to one day replace my current income and enable me the freedom to quit my job and build my own business. I have some ideas in that regard, which I will be sharing with you. This is a journey that I hope you will join me and Dean on, so we can learn and grow together.

Dean and I will be writing blog posts, recording podcasts together, and creating products that help you become a Catholic entrepreneur. Why a Catholic entrepreneur? Simple, many sites out there are business oriented but secular. They do not have the same priorities that we do as Catholics. For instance, it may be perfectly acceptable for a secular entrepreneur to recommend delaying the conception of children for a long time, and then only have one or two children at most. That attitude is obviously not compatible with our Catholic Faith, so it is not an option for us.

Also, we as Catholics do not have a primary goal to become rich or famous. Riches may come, and that is not in itself anything bad, but that is not our main goal. Our goal is firstly to win people to Christ and His Church with the gospel. We also want to fulfill our duties as husbands and fathers. In doing so, we want to establish a way of making a living that ensures our families are provided for, and this is where becoming a Catholic entrepreneur fits in.

Personally, I’ve self-published two books and have one book published by Catholic Answers. I will be sharing with you my experiences in the book writing and publishing world, so that you can see whether that is something you may want to try.

Great to meet you, and I look forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you, both.

This is exactly the sort of subject matter I’d like to see get properly explored by competent Catholic husbands and fathers. I look forward especially to your first podcast together and spreading the word about this joint venture.

    God speed,
