Episode #19: Mary and Prayer

Hey everyone! I had an epiphany (no pun intended) this advent season that has literally changed my life, and also how I get things done throughout the day. I don’t want to spoil it for you, so you’ll need to check out the video, but it’s somewhat along the lines of the Getting Things Done [...]

Episode #18: The 20/80 Principle

Episode #18: The 20/80 Principle

What is better, working on a lot of recurring tasks throughout the day that keep you busy for hours on end, or finishing a small task that makes a huge difference? Sounds like a stupid question, but I submit to you that most people choose to do the former every day. We tend to believe that feeling busy means that we are making a difference. However, being busy for business sake is really just being lazylaziness in the form of not looking for what is really going to make a difference in your day, week, month, or year.

Episode #17: Introduction to Google Wave

Episode #17: Introduction to Google Wave

As I mention in the video, I am not a guru of the technical side of Google Wave. However, I do believe that the concept of Google Wave itself is something that everyone needs to grasp. Why? Because it is truly going to revolutionize the way that we communicate on the internet.

Google Wave is not email, it is a whole new mode of communication that allows individuals and groups to collaborate around one conversation and with dynamic content. I assure you that, although it may seem mysterious and a waste of time, as more and more people catch on to it you will see how it solves many of the problems that are inherent in email.

Episode #16: Saving a Dying Church Website, Part 3

Well… something interesting happened last week that took me a while to process. If you have been following my blog for a while, you’d know that I had been trying to convince my pastor that he needed a new Church website. Well, for a while it looked like I was going to get my wish and be able to tithe my time to the Church and build a cheap and killer web community for them. However, last week I got a call from my pastor that changed everything. In a nutshell, I was denied the web development opportunity that I desired. I was a little hurt and sad, but thanks be to God, he made what seemed to be a defeat into an even greater victory. How is that? Well, you’ll have to watch the video to find out!

Episode #15: Get the Liturgy of the Hours in Your Inbox

So, as I mention in the video, one of my most popular posts to date is on how to get the entire Catholic liturgical calendar into your Gmail account.  Well, leveraging off of that same concept, I thought that it would be cool to try and do something similar with the Liturgy of the Hours.  So, using the awesome Universalis site, I tried to find a way to get their RSS feeds to be sent to my inbox so I didn’t have to spend the 5 seconds it takes to bring up Netvibes (yes, I am retarded and lazy, i know).  All in all, I figured out that it is indeed possible to get the Liturgy of the Hours sent to you via email for FREE.  It only takes a little bit to set up, minus the time it takes to watch my tutorial video.

Episode #14: Productive Catholics Use Netvibes

iGoogle, MyCatholic, and a couple of other homepage sites offer a one-stop shop for keeping track of your web presence and interests. But I have yet to find one that comes close to what Netvibes has to offer. In this video I explain why Netvibes is different than iGoogle, and – in my humble opinion – better at keeping you up-to-date with information that is important to you. Better organization, the ability to quickly scan information, and other perks of the web app offer a great reason to switch from the other homepage sites to Netvibes.

Episode #12: DVD Giveaway to Start Your Passion

Episode #12: DVD Giveaway to Start Your Passion

Okay all of you awesome Catholics out there. The Church needs you, and the world needs you to get out there and start talking about your passion. We are all designed by God for a specific purpose, and there are too many non-Catholics out there that are leaving us in the dust when it comes to living out our purpose. We need Catholics out there that are not afraid to do what they were made to do. As I’ve said many times before, not all of us were made to be theologians, but all of us were given special talents from God – and now is the time to start using them and get a free DVD (and possibly a book) at the same time!

Episode #8:Saving a Church Website, Part 2

As you could probably guess, this is a follow up post to Saving a Church Website, Part 1.  Now, although the website that I was aiming to rescue has not been totally saved yet, the reason for the post is that a milestone was hit today.  I won’t spoil the surprise, you will have to watch the video to find out what happened, but I can assure you that it was a good day today.  I am going to stop now, and let you watch, but I really hope that one thing stands out in the video – even a little bit of your time goes a long way!

Episode #7: Barriers to Success – What Barriers?

I was going to skip posting today because I was supposed to be finishing up a research paper for a class that I am taking.  But I enjoy doing this so much, that I feel as though I am almost letting everyone down when I miss a post.  This feeling is what I want to talk about today.  It is something that you will only have if you love what you are doing.  I’ve written other blogs before, and I’ve worked on other things, but this is one thing that I just find fun and fulfilling
